On a Facebook post earlier today, Oglethorpe County Schools communicated their plans to conduct a residency audit.
The OCS Facebook post told parents and guardians that, "Students entering 3rd grade, 6th grade, and 9th grade, will need to show proof of residency prior to school starting in August...."
Typically, the school system only requires proof of residency to be shown when students are first enrolled into the system. But, due to increased prices when it comes to providing quality education, Oglethorpe County is requiring updated proof of residency in order to make sure tax dollars are being spent properly.

"Proof of residency documents that can be accepted are the following: Mortgage Statement, current lease/rental agreement, or current utility bill," claimed the post by Oglethorpe County Schools.
The Facebook post also provided the phone number for the BOE office, for those who do not have proper proof of residency.
All documentation can be dropped off at the child's school, or the BOE office after July 17, 2024. However, proof of residency must be collected before students can be scheduled for classes.
