Students, parents, and other members of the community gathered on May 30 for a "Strategic Planning Meeting," at Oglethorpe County Middle School.

The object of the meeting was to review how the 2023/2024 school year was executed, and propose new strategies to increase growth in multiple academic areas.

During the meeting, students and administrators reviewed academic areas in which Oglethorpe students struggled. Other topics of the meeting included family engagement in school activities, campus climate, and surveys that parents were given earlier in the school year.

Decrease in scores, and lack of "above average" score were a common topic throughout the meeting. Students Naomi McPeake, and Andy Nguyen helped to evaluate the sixteen point decline in student SAT/ACT scores, and the plethora of "average" scores, among other academic topics. With the help of audience feedback, a preliminary sketch on what teachers, and staff could do to help increase scores among students was drawn.

Parents and community members also had the ability to voice their input on other topics that were examined, and how they can become more involved with school sponsored activities.

Audience feedback was used to create a basic rundown on how the 2024/2025 school year should be executed.

To conclude, I would like to thank everyone who has read this very first blog post, and I hope that you will tune in for new stories. Once again, thank you and have a great rest of your day.
