Oglethorpe Football Enters Crucial Bye-Week

Ashby Booth

Following a 34-14 loss against Laney, the Oglethorpe County Patriots enter their bye-week with a 0-4 record. With many aspects of the game still needing work, the Pats hope to use this week to their advantage.

Since last season, the Patriots are on a seven game losing streak, including preseason scrimmages. This season, Oglethorpe is winless after losing two games by more than twenty points, and losing their other two games by three or more points.

After the bye-week, Oglethorpe will take on six more teams, one of those being Elbert county who Oglethorpe lost to in the first round of the playoffs last season. Of the remaining six games, three will be home game, and three will be away. The Pats are scheduled to play back-to-back away games against Athens Academy, and Rabun County.

Despite the record, fans have not lost faith in the team. Patriot fans continue to support their team at home games, and are full of passion.

The Patriots are set to play Elbert County next Friday for week five of the season. This game will be Oglethorpe's homecoming game, which will feature the announcement of homecoming king and queen at halftime.

I want to again thank everyone for supporting this blog. I would like to apologize for the late post, I was not at the game vs Laney, and was not able to get an article out about it.

I will be at the game taking on Elbert, and will get an article out about that hopefully by Monday.
